Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards that are valued under 10 are valued at their printed value while 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they strictly symbolize the two hands to be given out).

2 hands of two cards will now be dealt to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for each hand will be the total of the 2 cards, but the initial digit is removed. For e.g., a hand of 7 and 5 gives a total score of two (sevenplus5=12; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card could be played depending on the foll. regulations:

- If the player or banker has a tally of 8 or 9, both players stand.

- If the player has 5 or lower, he hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the player hits, a chart might be used in order to judge if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the two scores is the winner. Successful wagers on the banker pay at nineteen to 20 (even odds minus a 5 percent commission. Commission is tracked and paid out when you leave the table so make sure to have cash remaining before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie generally pay eight to one but occasionally nine to one. (This is a bad wager as ties will occur less than 1 every ten hands. Avoid wagering on a tie. Nevertheless odds are far better – 9 to 1 versus 8 to 1)

When played effectively, baccarat presents generally good odds, aside from the tie bet ofcourse.

Baccarat Strategy

As with many games, Baccarat has some common misunderstandings. 1 of which is very similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is in no way an actual indicator of future results. Keeping track of last outcomes on a chart is a complete waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and probably most successful method is the 1-3-two-6 technique. This technique is employed to increase payouts and controlling risk.

Begin by betting one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of three on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, subtract 4 so you have 2 on the 3rd bet. If you win the third gamble, add two to the four on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth bet.

If you don’t win on the initial wager, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd will create a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Coming away with a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. This means you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
