Baccarat Protocols
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards which are valued under ten are valued at their printed number while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they merely depict the two hands to be played).
Two hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The score for each hand will be the sum of the two cards, but the first digit is discarded. For eg, a hand of 7 … 5 produces a total score of two (7plusfive=12; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card may be played depending on the following rules:
- If the player or banker has a score of 8 or 9, both bettors stand.
- If the player has five or lower, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.
- If player stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the bettor hits, a chart is used in order to see if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The larger of the 2 scores wins. Winning wagers on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even money less a 5% commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so be sure to have money remaining before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie customarily pay eight to 1 but sometimes 9 to one. (This is a crazy wager as ties will happen lower than 1 every 10 hands. Avoid placing bets on a tie. Even so odds are significantly better – 9 to one versus 8 to one)
Played correctly, baccarat offers fairly good odds, apart from the tie wager obviously.
Baccarat Tactics
As with most games, Baccarat has some established false impressions. One of which is close to a roulette myth. The past is never actually a predictor of future events. Staying abreast of previous outcomes on a chart is a complete waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most commonly used and feasibly most successful technique is the 1-3-two-six concept. This process is employed to amplify payout and limiting risk.
commence by betting 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, subtract 4 so you have 2 on the 3rd wager. If you win the third wager, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a total of six on the fourth bet.
If you lose on the 1st wager, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet quickly followed by loss on the second causes a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Coming away with a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. Thus you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
